Like I said in my last post, if you go to Green, try to hit up the one in Phoenix. Next door is the all vegan Nami – known for their Tsoynamis (a soft serve type treat) and baked goods. This place is so good! My mom and I ended up going here twice on our road trip.
The Tsoynamis are huge! And at only $4.50 – they are certainly a bargain. The menu is extensive, including fruity, chocolatey, and peanut buttery varieties (just to name a few). I loved the NO’s and Mint Tsoynami: Newman’s chocolate O’s, mint flavor, organic chocolate. My mom just thought that creating her own Tsoynami with Mixed Berry was one of the best things on the whole road trip.
Nami also has baked goods, so we got some of those. Their Chocolate Cake was moist and delicious. The perfect amount of chocolate flavor for me.
Their Winkie is (obviously) their take on a Twinkie. To be honest – I thought this lacked cream and the cake was too dense (not like a light and fluffy real Twinkie). Their Nami Cake is a version of the famous Hostess Snack Cake. Just like the chocolate cake above, this cupcake was moist and had a good amount of cream filling.
They also had regular sized and mini sized versions of a Chocolate Cupcake and a Coffee Coconut Cupcake. Of course the chocolate cupcake was divine. The coffee coconut cupcake was a little on the dry side and a bit too dense. It also had coffee grounds mixed in – I wasn’t a huge fan.
It’s a vegan rule that one has to get a vegan doughnut whenever they are offered. This Chocolate Doughnut was just sitting there asking to be eaten. It didn’t really taste like a doughnut, but more like a dense, fudgy brownie. I still liked it, though.
And (surprise, surprise) we stopped at Nami on the way home from our road trip. More Tsoynamis and baked goods all around! The Fluffernutterin Tsoynami includes organic peanut butter, banana, ricemellow fluff and toasted marshmellow flavor. While not as good as my minty one, I still very much enjoyed this.
Continuing with the gluttonous theme, a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cupcake was ordered. This chocolate cupcake has a glob of peanut butter baked right into the center (a very nice and unexpected surprise). The peanut butter frosting was delicious. The perfect combination.
This Turnover was labeled as blueberry cream cheese, but when I ate it, there was chocolate in the middle. I’ll admit, that by the time I ate it, I had caught a cold, so I really couldn’t tell if there were also any blueberries inside. Either way, this was delicious!
The Chai Tiramisu Tsoynami (organic chai, organic animal crackers, soy whip) was also not as good as the minty one and probably not as good as the Fluffernutter one, but the soy whip on top was the best! See if you can add this to whatever you order at Nami.
